Creative Arts Therapies

Hancock Center for Creative Arts Therapies supports the healthy potential of individuals, families, and groups through psychotherapy and mental health programs involving dance/movement, art, music, and drama, or Creative Arts Therapies (CAT).  Clients are seen on-site in downtown Madison, via telehealth, or in a community partner location and offers individual and group Creative Arts Therapy sessions for adult, adolescents, children, and families.

 

Sometimes words are not enough. Using art, dance/movement, theater and music as a therapeutic tool, individuals can address communication, academic, motor, emotional, and social skills as well as develop strengths and talents.

 

Dance/Movement Therapy as defined by the American Dance Therapy Association:

Dance/Movement therapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual.

Art Therapy, as defined by the American Art Therapy Association: Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active artmaking, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.

Music Therapy, as defined by the American Music Therapy Association: The clinical & evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.

Creative Arts Therapies: Led by a degreed and credentialed dance, music or art therapist who attended an accredited college program(s).
