DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY AIDE in CREATIVE MOVEMENT CLASS for ADULTS with DEVELOPMENTAL DIFFERENCES For everyone's safety, these volunteer positions are suspended due to the COVID pandemic. Stay tuned for better times ahead!

Help support adults with developmental challenges in a fun-filled therapeutic movement group, "Movers & Shakers", that meets Wednesdays, 4:00-4:45 at the Hancock Center. (There is also a need for help before the group starts and after the group ends if you are available).

"Movers & Shakers" is a small group with participants who have cognitive delays, experience life on the autism spectrum and have some physical needs. You will assist the facilitator and help join and engage the participants as we move together with music to create meaningful connections and relationships, promote healthy body image, increase range of motion, and improve self-esteem. Previous experience with children or adults with special needs is helpful along with a comfort with dance and movement. This is a weekly volunteer commitment.

DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY AIDE for CLASSROOMS of ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN For everyone's safety, these volunteer positions are suspended due to the COVID pandemic. Stay tuned for better times ahead!

We have volunteer opportunities for individuals to work as aides in "Building Connection through Movement" classes with classrooms of children at Madison area elementary schools during the school year as part of Hancock Center's In-School program.

Applicants should have experience working with children and a comfort level with movement (no dance skills required). Your own transportation is needed to get to the school.

MAINTENANCE

Hancock Center is in a Victorian building that is over 100 years old. We would be grateful to find someone who could help us with various building projects as they arise. Our building is always in need of some repair and interior painting. In the summer we would also benefit from landscaping in our front and backyard. This could be an on-going or "on-call" position.

Needs include: yardwork, landscaping, cleaning up exterior porches (sweeping, washing siding, etc.), painting, and general maintenance.
