DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY AIDE with CHILDREN in SCHOOLS

We have volunteer opportunities available working as an aide in Violence Prevention Through Movement classes or dance/movement therapy groups with children at Madison area elementary schools during the school year (Sept. - May) as part of Hancock Center's "In-School Prevention and Therapy Program".

Applicants should have experience working with children and a comfort level with movement (no dance skills required). There are still openings as of the winter/spring semester, 2018, on Monday and Wednesday mornings and Fridays from 8 AM to 3:00 PM.  Your own transportation is needed. Approximate time commitment is 2-3 hours per week. Experience with children, comfort level with movement, and therapeutic experience or background desired for child and family program. Please contact Rena Kornblum at rena@hancockcenter.net

DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY AIDE in CREATIVE MOVEMENT CLASS for ADULTS with DEVELOPMENTAL  DIFFERENCES

Help support adults with developmental challenges in a fun-filled therapeutic movement group, "Movers & Shakers", that meets Wednesdays, 4:00-4:45 at the Hancock Center. (There is also a need for help before the group starts and after the group ends if you are available).

"Moves & Shakers" is a small group with participants who have cognitive delays, experience life on the autism spectrum and have some physical needs. You will assist the facilitator and help join and engage the participants as we move together with music to create meaningful connections and relationships, promote healthy body image, increase range of motion, and improve self-esteem. Previous experience with children or adults with special needs is helpful along with a comfort with dance and movement.

There is currently opportunity to assist in a group for adults with developmental delays. This is a weekly volunteer commitment.

OFFICE/ADMINISTRATIVE HELP

Volunteers will help in the office with general administrative duties including reception, mailings, word processing, database entry, photocopying, etc. Dance therapists often need help with wait list information, paper work, and filing. This is a great position to find out more about Hancock Center and dance/movement therapy and to gain experience in an office setting. This could be a regular or "on-call" position. Office and computer experience desired.
Current needs: on-call as needed.

MAINTENANCE

Hancock Center is in a Victorian building that is over 100 years old. It is always in need of some repair and interior painting. We would be grateful to find someone who could help us with various building projects as they arise. In the summer we would also benefit from landscaping in our front and backyard. This could be an on-going or "on-call" position.
Current needs: exterior house painting, landscaping and/or general maintenance.
